UK Gold

Found this new letter box on the Princes Highway at Jerrawangala, South Coast NSW.
This area was burnt out by bushfires in January this year so this is a new replacement.

The Rocks


This post box has been given a new paint job in recent months as it was looking very neglected before. This one is located on the corner of Argyle and Kent St Millers Point. The wall in lives in was once a post office.

Claude Road, Tasmania


Last Tasmania one for this trip, passed this near Claude Road, which is  on the way from Sheffield to Cradle Mountain. That is Mount Rowland in the background, we have put that on our list to climb.

Ross, Tasmania.


This trip to Tasmania we made sure we dropped into Ross, so glad we did as it is such a beautiful town. Ross is located just off the Midlands Hwy between Launceston and Hobart.



 As we strolled along the main drag we come across this beautiful old sandstone Post Office so I thought I would share it with you.


It was Autumn while we were there and the elm leaves were a stunning yellow.

Located on Cumberland Street near the Glenmore Hotel.

In 1831 Sydney saw its first street posting boxes and the postmen were issued with a uniform of a red coat and black top hat.

Located on Lower Fort Street near Cumberland Street The Rocks.

In 1828 Australia's first postman commenced deliveries in Sydney. The mail was transported on horseback or coach from Sydney to areas including Penrith, Parramatta, Liverpool, Windsor, Campbelltown, Newcastle and Bathurst.

Australia Post's first postmaster, Isaac Nichols, was appointed in 1809. He worked from his home in Australia's first post office in Circular Quay, Sydney. Not far from where this photo was taken.
