UK Gold

You have to love people looking out for Post Boxes for you :)
This one came from a relative in the UK who sent it to me via Facebook.

Natasha Baker
Gold medal Equestrian: Mixed Individual Championship Test - Grade II
To mark Natasha's gold medal winning performance, Royal Mail has painted a post box on the
 High Street in Uxbridge, gold.

Thanks Michele :)

Coldingham, Scotland, UK

Yes AB again, this was our last night in Scotland back in March 2011.
We saw this post box on our way to dinner and AB couldn't resist a bit of fun, lucky for the fence otherwise she would never have of reached.

Windsor England

These are found in Windsor England, on the left a stamp dispenser, a standard red post box and a blue post box for airmail letters.
Located near High, Park and St Albans Streets in Windsor.

Victorian Style, Windsor England.

Can you imagine how excited I became on seeing a green one?
This one is situated immediately adjacent to the Guildhall in Windsor,  Green was adopted as the standard colour for the early Victorian post boxes.

Victoria: 1837-1901

This one is not in use.

Windsor, England

Not a great photo by any means, but this is when the fascination really started to set in while I was in the UK.
Saw this while riding around Windsor in the open air
hop on hop off bus, so I raced to the other side of the bus to capture it, hence poor quality.
Windsor was a real eye opener to me for the different styles of Pillar Boxes, I will show more over time.
I do have more Sydney ones to share, but be patient, in due time...

Victoria: Vertical Slot

This style was designed in 1856, 15 years after postage stamps.
Due to people walking into the original colour of green the pillar box colour changed to red.

Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire England

This is where my fascination started, Swanbourne England.

We travelled there in March 2011 to see where our ancestors originated & to meet family. A distant cousin explained the initials on each Post Box are of the reigning monarch at the time of their installation.
So we spent our 2 weeks travelling around looking out for the different ones.
I will share these with you over time.
